Darkness

Darkness

A Poem by Nathan Thompson

Darkness, to some it is a fear to be conquered.

Darkness, to some it is an ally, a place to hide.

Darkness, to some it is neither of these, but something that marks the passing of the sun as the cycle of day and night continues

Darkness is all these things, and more.

Darkness is a void, a total abyss, thicker then blood, but as insubstantial as a cloud a state of mind, and the very image of loneliness.

Darkness, to look upon it is to see the very core of fear, the heart of terror.

Darkness, it is something that cannot be touched, tasted, heard, smelt nor can it be sensed, but can be seen in a thousand things, the universe beyond our own system, the eyes of the dead, and the coming of a new day.

The true soul of Darkness, is the Unknown

Unknown, succeed in conquering this fear, and life, and the hereafter, will hold no terrors, and you will see this world for what it really is.

Darkness is everything. This poem is very unique, I like the style you've gone for. Brilliantly written that evokes imagery of the different forms darkness takes. Great poem!

I, for one, cherish every form of Darkness, just as well as the Light. ;)

Awesome piece, buddy! I have to admit, the repitition isn't that bad. It definitely gets the point across. lol The structure is a bit "iffy" at best, but the content totally makes up for it, mainly because I felt the authenticity of it through the words you decided to use.

Again, great job!

Ironically Yours, Blade and Blood

Interestin conception of darkness and the many forms it takes. I think most people are not afraid of darkness as such but of what it might hide.A an atavistic hangover from the days when man was the usual prey of more powerful predators
