a fool

a fool

A Poem by Nathan HUelsbeck
"

one last breath

"
It was my last breath
Consumed
Before I could
Pull out the rest of heart

I spoke from pieces
Left behind from
One night stands
Drunk driving
And many
Many mornings waking up
Under covers
And in destroyed rooms

I feel foolishly
Into
Puddles
As the sun beat down
A saving grace
But I was to beat to tell
That
Shouting out all the things I wanted
Was as foolish as believing
I could be god.....

There is so much of stark reality infused in your words that they are palpable and throbbing with the truth of your soul...i love your words for what they are...they are seemingly simple...you do not use heavy words...but when all of the words link together they create something so deep and amazing..

thank you Jennie, i love to play around with words like that but, i think a lot of times people don't grasp it in the way i hope. I love how you always catch them..

what a great great piece! there's a bit of mad genius in using feel instead of fell.. it makes it more of an involving word.. it kinda makes you THINK about the way the puddles feel, and the feeling of foolishness..
