The Age of the DragonA Poem by NathPredators, too, may be preyed on.It's the Age of the Dragon, as the monster roams The realm, destroying many a family's home, Always on the hunt for a meal, it strikes to kill, Kills to survive, to feed a hunger it cannot still.
It sets fire to cities with its fiery breath, And smoke rises from every single town While the beast burns entire villages down Leaving behind only destruction and death.
Now when it rampages in the most ravenous rage It’s time for the heroine to finally enter the stage Where the berserk beast roars and rears Its head among people paralyzed by fear.
Here comes the knight in shining armor, A trivial trinket soon to bear a bloody stain, Following the call of the people’s clamor Who long to see the dreadful demon slain.
So she sets out to seek the dragon, looking for the lair She doesn’t have to go far to find it, and the dragon there For demons of its kind are hard to keep at bay, And it’s harder yet to drive and keep one far away.
The knight lifts her sword and takes up her stance As if to ask the dragon for the deadly dance Who accepts the challenge and, in single combat engaged, Unleashes the full force of its furious fire, fuelled by rage.
Our fighter faced the predator she set out to slay, But chasing down a hunter, she became his prey She saw death as she looked into the dragon's eye And her fearful face reflected in it as she was fried.
The white armor that she so proudly wore Is now soiled with soot, and further by gore And while she lies lifeless, the monster still roars And roams the realm as relentlessly as before. © 2015 NathAuthor's Note
