Bitterness

Bitterness

A Poem by Nate
"

First poem ever. Tell me what you think.

"

The worst thing is when you

 stare at something you

 considered an achievement, but

 it looks back at you

with the eyes of a

 failure.

 When you realize that

no matter how hard you tried,

 no matter what passion,

desire,

or drive you put in,

it will never again

amount to the praise you once held for it.

When you’ve fallen so far,

you will never get up,

you will never hold the strength that was

once yours to hold.

You will never again

ascend

to the clouds you once used as a

lawn chair.

When you’re counted in the

same class,

 gathered in the same crowd,

 as someone who was

previously

lower than you,

who looked at you as if you were

God.

The worst thing is when you

 stare at something you

consider a failure, but

 it looks back at you

with your own

eyes.

I liked reading this. To me poetry is about letting go. Your write what you want, keep enough flow that the reader doesnt stop so fast they lose the mindset you want them in. Leave them thinking.....it doesn't matter what they are thinking just
leave
them
thinking.

It doesn't suck, but it could use work. I think it has a really good message. I do like it. If this is your first poem, what did you write before?
