Integration Testing and its benefits

Integration testing services are of three types:

1.       Big Bang testing: In this system, all components or applications in the system are put together at once and then tested as a group. Although this system is good for small systems, it has a lot of disadvantages when applied to a large system with multiple components.

 

2.       Incremental testing: In this testing system, two components which are logically put together and then slowly other related components are put together. The testing continues till all the components have gone through the test. This test is again sub divided into two type:

 

-          Top Down

-          Bottom Up

 

Top down, as the name explains, follows a procedure when the testing takes place from top to the bottom of the control flow of the system.

In the bottom up system, the testing is in the reverse or ascending order. Lower modules are tested first and then the higher modules are tested.
