Not in My Name

Not in My Name

A Poem by Nathan the Sane
"

"Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent and righteous, for I will not acquit the wicked."(Exodus 23:7)

"
I gaze upon My creation-
Upon the sea and land.
I watch the acts of My people,
And I just don't understand.
You pillage, rape, and murder,
And that really is a shame.
But why, dear Me, why
Do you do it in My name?

Not in My name.
Not in My name.
Not in My figure.
I wasn't the one
Who gave you the gun
And told you to pull the trigger.
Not in My name.
Not in My name.
This isn't My will.
On top of Mount Sinai
I made Myself clear -
"Thou shalt not kill." [(Exodus 20:13)(Deuteronomy 5:17)]

I talked to you through miracles,
Through lightning and charades.
But I never asked for this violence;
Neither bombings nor crusades.
Do not just follow blindly -
I gave you common sense;
Why would I ask of you
To murder innocents?

Not in My name.
Not in My name.
Not in My figure.
I wasn't the one
Who gave you the gun
And told you to pull the trigger.
Not in My name.
No, not in My name.
This isn't My will.
On top of Mount Sinai
I thought I was clear -
"Thou shalt not kill."

"Love thy neighbor", [(Leviticus 19:18)(Mark 12:31)(Matthew 22:39)(Surah 42:23)]
Treat him well.
Those who kill
Will burn in hell.
"Love thy neighbor",
Treat him well.
All those who murder
Will rot in hell.

You kill your brothers, who love Me,
For their 'False Gods' you don't care.
But I'm the same One for all of you;
You just shout out different prayers.
The love that I asked for these so-called 'infidels'
Is now nothing but a wraith.
But I've already told you at least five times:
"The just shall live by his faith" [(Habakkuk 2:4)(Romans 1:17)(Galatians 3:11)(Hebrews 10:38)(Surah 109:6)]

Not in My name.
Not in My name.
Not in My figure.
I wasn't the one
Who gave you the gun
And told you to pull the trigger.
Not in My name.
Never, not in My name.
This isn't My will.
On top of Mount Sinai
I made Myself clear -

"THOU
SHALT
NOT
KILL"

Author's Note

Nathan the Sane
I have a rather interesting theological philosophy (if I do say so myself) - God indeed created us in His image and gave us rules and guidelines by which to live. During the course of the years, as humans gradually broke every law in the book of rules, God realized that the Sons of Man are a lost cause and left us, looking for something more worthwhile to do with His time.
Blasphemous? Maybe. My God allows me to criticize Him, and vice versa. To each their own, I guess.

I love it! I like the idea about the law of man v.s. the law of God! Keep up the great work!
