What where you thinking?

What where you thinking?

A Poem by Natalie C
"

Sorry guys this is more a rant than everything else. One of my friends was hit by a drunk driver while crossing the street this week and died. So Im a bit cut up about it, specially after visiting with his family.

"

It only takes one second
To change the lives of so many
One selfish irresponsible act
To make a mother cry
And leave friends wondering why

Today I sit here
And I have no words for the anger
That brews inside of me
No tears to express the sadness,
That awaits his family till eternity

Dear Sir, what where you thinking?
Where you thinking at all?
Did you think that today
You where going to change someone’s life?
Did you even see that far ahead?

Did you ever think

By drinking that one last glass

You would forever take away

Someone’s loving soul?

Did you?

Tonight his baby will be sleeping in his little bed

Never realizing that his father

Won’t be coming home again

He would grow up

Not remembering what a great father he had

How do you sleep at night

Knowing that a baby is never going to know his dad?

Can you even look in the mirror

Without seeing a murderer

Now forever condemned by a careless act?

Thanks to you, his wife will be forever scared

You have robbed them of a lifetime together

Robbed them from their vows

And in the end all that she has left

Is a picture of a husband, once so great

At his funeral, we sit

Wishing you could be here

To experience first hand

The sorrow you have caused

Words cannot even begin to express

The anguish you have created

So I am left with one question only

‘cause my minds a blank a right now

But I have to one last time

Hoping that you can answer it…

I am so sorry for your loss. As you probably know I recently lost my son due to a drunk driver. It tears you apart. I wrote so much about it in my poetry, losing my poems, is like losing another part of him. Please be strong. If you ever need to talk, I'm here. And thank you so much for sharing your pain, writing about it will help you get through, it did for me anyway. Lots of love, hugs and prayers. You should send this to MADD mothers against drunk drivers. Debileah

That is not a rant. That is a good vent of some extremely difficult emotions. Life can be so hard. I am sorry for your loss.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend... words seem so inadequate when people loose friends or a loved one.
Sorry.
A rant it may be, but a very good one, full of raw emotion ending with the one question that is never answered by anyone - "Why?"
My condolences to you and his family.

I am very sorry for your lose. This speaks to me in a way others may not understand as I had a girl I was seriously involved with that was hit and killed by a drunk drive. I felt the hurt in a way that still lngers on me this very day. Reading pieces like this always reminds me of that pain as it is never to far from my mind. I truly am sorry for you and his family I send my prayers and thoughts.

Tis sad from beginning to end. And probably he wasn't thinking or didn't care...at the time. I am sorry you were distressed by this horrible event.

First of all let me extend my greatest sorrows to you and his family. My heart reaches out to you all for your loss. It is such a shame to have someone taken from this life because of someone elses poor judgement. Why anyone ever crawls behind the wheel of a vehicle while they are impaired is beyond me. I know where you are coming from on this piece. I lost a friend too due to subtance. He was trying to clean up his life, but his girlfriend had other plans. He wanted the drugs gone from the house and she didn't and it ended up in her taking his life over it. Why she could have just not have packed up and walked away instead of ending it like she did is beyond my thinking. So sincerely from the bottom of my heart my thoughts and prayers will be with you all. If you need anyone to talk to please email me. Don't know what I can say to help ease the pain but, I have been down this road so I know where it leads too.

It's a painful read Nat... No one wants to see their friends or loved ones die. Especially by something as senseless as being taken by a drunk driver. Very Sad...

First of all, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Secondly, two of the people I've known that were taken by the drunkyard as well. But, the worst part is that I've known someone who drank and drive, but he didn't kill anyone, just took his own like by crashing his motorcycle toward to the semi-truck. So, yeah, drinking and driving is like drinking the soul-destroying demon blood and get possessed by it to go out and do the duty. But, they all have the power to make the choices, sadly we do know what kind of the choices they already have made.

Anyway, it's a really good write and you should send that in letter to that person who took your friend's life away and, hopefully, the note will be a lesson learned or a sign for that driver...

My God! Man, this is just horrible news :( :( Im just really angry that these people would do such a thing. Dont they have better sense to not drink and drive? Ya think that they would've gotten the point by now, being that there are so many accidents, the school teachings, and the notices to tell kids about the dangers of alcohol and drugs; and the endless stories on the news and the newspapers about it... But I guess not :( I cant believe this happened to u hun, and to him :( What is this world coming to, i swear. Very heartfelt and very sad :( Im sure he will be missed. Dearly. I just said a prayer for him. Well done hun. Hang in there. *Hugs*
