Community in Ruins

Community in Ruins

A Poem by Natalie C
"

The shock, the horror, the GREAT return

"

In the ashes we sit

As our cozy community’s walls

Came tumbling down

Unexpectedly, right before our eyes

No one could have ever foreseen

The horror that would meet us

On this now, such a tragic day

Wandering around the pages

Aimlessly, we try to collect

All the pieces of our souls

Which we have left on these pages for all

Yet all is not lost,

We still have each other, don’t we?

And as with any other community

We will overcome our grief- together –

As writers, we are strong

We grow together

Even with all the growing pains

We experience from time to time

From these ashes, we will rise

Specially those who do decide to stay

And we will once again fly

So yes Charles…

Made a tragic mistake

But maybe, sometimes we need a disaster

To realize that we can still find comfort in each other

The words will once again flow

Underneath the spider tree we would all be

And this day …

Long forgotten

Great poem, it was almost like the great crash of the cafe was like a terrorist attack, instead of humans being lost it was our words. (although it seems tacky of me to compare the crash to something like 9/11) but my point being was the whole shock of it happening never thinking it would!

We? - Perishable .... Our words, too. And yet .... we hope they are NOT, of course. Words, it seems, are there to last, to stay, outlive, endure .... Maybe in cyber space less so than on a lowly piece of paper ...

Well, we have a saying in Germany, "Lebe geht weiter" ... Life goes on.

Oh, and I almost forgot in my self-absorbed ramblings: Nice one, Natalie! xxx

I think if we allow it "tragdy" can help us look at things with a better perspective . Allowing us to see in a diferent light, and really understand what is important to us in our lives. Not just because of the words that are etched here at the WC, but the earts and souls as well. ~ Judi :-) xo

Wonderfully expressed. I think you captured well what so many writers in the cafe are (or were) feeling.

Such a wonderful message. This is often the message i try to spread we have to come together and unify with a common goal. Unfortunately it requires such a horrible lose to bring people together. But I assure you and any one else i am not going any where this is my home and I have been here nearly a year now and feel closer to people here than I do must people i know. I love the support and love that receive here. Glad to see you are sticking around and trying to piece together the mess we are left with.

I for one, being old fashioned have my written copies of all my work. I always create them on paper, never on the computer. So it will take time but I can put all my poetry back on the site. I love the poem, it is true "the words once again will flow" Thank you for putting things in perspective.

Nice poetry!

Yeah, it's indeed a big return! There's still hope! Never say die! =P

A beautiful sentiment, indeed. While some may see this as just one more reason to leave, you've found the hope for a new future. I for one am overtly disappointed, as the reviews on my works held much value to me. To be "reviewed" by the wonderful writers on this site was such a blessing, and one can't regain such a loss. On the other hand, there is always room for spring cleaning, even in the midst of my Eastern winter. I am ready to rebuild, one brick at a time. Sad, unfortunate, but permanently etched in the WC history. Excellent write.
