Community in Ruins

The shock, the horror, the GREAT return

 

In the ashes we sit

As our cozy community’s walls

Came tumbling down

Unexpectedly, right before our eyes

No one could have ever foreseen

The horror that would meet us

On this now, such a tragic day  

 

Wandering around the pages

Aimlessly, we try to collect

All the pieces of our souls

Which we have left on these pages for all

Yet all is not lost,

We still have each other, don’t we?

And as with any other community

We will overcome our grief- together –

 

As writers, we are strong

We grow together

Even with all the growing pains

We experience from time to time

From these ashes, we will rise

Specially those who do decide to stay

And we will once again fly

 

So yes Charles…

Made a tragic mistake

But maybe, sometimes we need a disaster

To realize that we can still find comfort in each other

The words will once again flow

Underneath the spider tree we would all be

And this day …

 

Long forgotten

Great poem, it was almost like the great crash of the cafe was like a terrorist attack, instead of humans being lost it was our words. (although it seems tacky of me to compare the crash to something like 9/11) but my point being was the whole shock of it happening never thinking it would!

beautifully done natalie, your words have a certain pulling effect, besides being all around, nicely
written, the opening is what grabs my attention because of the certain flow captured, its heartfully projected, metaphorically enhanced, your words flow straight to the readers heart, its sad,
but i love how this poem brings the entire situation to certain light, and that being able to move
on and rebuild the walls which crumbled, the ending image is peaceful, touching, artfully surrendered

I always love that saying "Time Heals Everything." And I love how your pieces are in just regular stanzas like this sometime. But I also love your your signature form, like in "Sanity Lost" and how most of your pieces were before the big Writerscafe crash. It always amazes me at how much I can get from your poems. How much I can relate to them and love them. Your writing inspires me to move on to the next day Natalie. Thank you so much for writing with such strong power.

You know, I really do admire your writings, I always have been and, obviously, will be. Yet, there's always one small, tiny, little piece in each of your writings that I've always don't agree. This writing, the last line; LONG FORGOTTEN; Sorry, I don't agree with that part, because nothing is forgotten.

A beautiful and sweet testimonial to a shocking and tragic time.

I suggest that people back up their work to their home PCs (a simple click, drag, copy, and paste) as well as periodically to CD or DVD ROMs. Anything can and will happen in this plane of existence. :)

I am looking at this as an opportunity to rediscover ourselves. I had the chance to rework some of my works (which I had already backed up) as well as to help a friend (whose works I had backed up) restore some of her work. I also had the impetus to expand my capabilities as well as a good opportunity to review my own work and decide what I want to keep.

Your words were staggering beautiful, and my heart goes out to those who have lost due to this incident. If people looked at it as an opportunity instead of a curse, it would be much easier.

I have to admit that it is a great chance for me to revisit the work of others and get to know people and their work all over again (to some degree).
