THE ROAD TO NOWHERE

THE ROAD TO NOWHERE

A Poem by Natalia Govsha

How heavy is the road to nowhere,

as if in a fog you wander to the touch ...

Feel, the fog like cotton wool inside your mouth.

You can’t exhale; it tears your throat too much.

There’s fog in your eyes, like a bluish veil.

And in your ears fog sounds like a tight noise.

Fog cruelly pinching fingers and your toes,

entangles you like a rebellious horse.

When you will stumble upon an acute angle

and you’ll collapse into a bottomless abyss

no one will hear your choking scream. We all exist

like passersby with fog in our eyes and ears.

We’re deaf and dumb, and blind. An echo calls us

along the road to nowhere, created by our own ego ...
