A story of ice and fire

Together, a flawless oxymoron.
I am a flame and you, a glazier.
Our love set to melt and extinguish,
Remains bright and strong like a brazier.

You are cold and icy, while I am warm.
I am soft, with not a feeling unfelt.
You are an icicle. Hard, inflexible.
Yet, you glisten so brightly that I melt.

A combination that should be fatal.
Fascination to be doomed in despair.
Though real, to us this is nonsensical,
These apprehensions not worth a care.

With you there are no longer new chapters,
You entered my life as a brand-new book.
A whole new perspective, everything’s changed,
This unlikely match has my whole world shook.

It is too late to be worried anymore.
The irreversible harm, long been done.
For despite all these reasons we should quit,
I’m afraid, my love, that you are the one.

No greater reason to smile when I wake,
Or count my blessings before my slumber,
Than the fact that I have you by my side,
My soulmate, who sparks such awe and wonder.

Although this inferno sometimes burns you,
The smoke leaves a bitter taste on your tongue.
This fire is yours in all of its glory,
Living only in your lungs.

Fires also bring comfort, strength, protection.
And this fire will always have that for you.
I vow life will never get too frosty,
This scarlet light will stop you turning blue.

Though different, together we are perfect,
That is something that is crystal clear.
Forever we’ll stand, together side by side.
Fire and ice, smiling from ear to ear.
