Peaceful Rest

"Jesus said...'Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give your rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for...you will find rest for you souls.' " Matthew 11:25a, 28

 

As a wind carries leaves

On a cool autumn day

So I wish all my troubles

Could as easily fly away--

 

To the depths of the sea,

To the other side of dawn…

How I yearn for the worries

Of this life to be gone!

 

But since Jesus is my Fortress,

My Comforter and Guide,

He will help me with my problems

And stay by my side.

 

He shows me in His Word that

There’s no reason for stress,

That life’s too short for fretting,

Being discontent and tense.

 

Then I am reminded

Of how much I’ve been blessed,

And with a smile, I purpose

To serve others in happiness.

 

God says, “Don’t be anxious,

But by petition and prayer,

Come to Me with thanksgiving

And find peaceful rest in Me here.”
