Find me by the wayward stateside,
coming back home to reside, and lay white
upon the Earth's mottled lap.
Between the folds, I uphold
unsweetened truths, and pray
on my skinned green knees,
wobbling under the weight
of the scoliosed season's greetings.
My fingers gasp for fresh breaths
to hold onto the olfactory death
that is autumn,
reaching out skyward
towards the humming quiet of
reddened maples, and hibiscus drones that
drown out the bees licking
divine flesh off
from the last of flowers,
drinking up supple honey
relentlessly,
as the year
gulps down our time.
someone a while back commented "When you write good poetry, you get good reviews." .. tho someone else's words ... i say them to you .. wonderful poetry Moonie! a keeper ... and how strange to experience Autumn in February :))))))))))) well done .. i love every line, metaphor, personification and image created .. i especially like how the lines shorten in your closing ... i slowed down without thinking ... drawing that last breath of Fall before the cold death sleep of Winter ... so good, my dear friend .. fine stuff!

I honestly am so over whelmed!!
Whether my poetry is good or bad, I always do eagerly wait for your reviews, because you have a very keen eye for the little details that many others may miss out ( for eg the slowing down of the poem towards the end)
Love and peace, my friend :)))

there is something exquisitely disorientating about loosing oneself in a fine it o poetry devoted to autumn, when crafted in February (the tail end of winter) and metaphorically devouring it in spring...
if you dont mind me saying so my fine literary friend, this is super and was a most welcome find...
you spare us nothing here; suffering, wisdom, intensity and at times a hint of grandeur. surpassing the ordinary allows the reader to convert energy into message...beautifully written...dana
an autumn poem in
February still presents
a powerful read..love
reading about my
favorite time of the year
anytime ..this spring
feels reversed much
like the dying hues of autumn
due to the isolation of the
deadly virus thrust upon us
such a transitional period
for us all.
I suppose in a way this is Autumn going straight to winter.
Self-isolation and nut hoarding, hibernation would be welcome if a quick change in dna was at the ready.
Great poem, in a strange way, cheerful.

Haha, I'm glad you found it cheerful! It does go well with our current self quarantine situation.

This will be good for us. You can now sign to your noisy neighbours. lol
dear "fairest"... a delicate wistful poem that touches the essence
of my Autumn soul. I weep as treasures of golden leaves with colors
of magenta and lavender sweep with the wind over the dreams of summers end...
truly an "interlude" of mystery. as ever, Pat

Thank you for the beautiful words. Lavender is one of my favorite colors :)))
seems the seasons are changing so rapidly these days here its winter one day spring in the next and fall is about 2 hours long so I would forgive you for your seasonal dysphoria but it all seems like spring to me these days but that might just be my slant. lovely poetic lines dear Moon

A hope er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer,
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin
