Relativity

Relativity

A Poem by Moonie

O bright nebulae in
this shroom box of darkness,
weaved by wicked Gods
that waft wastefully and
consume everything created.
Here we stand,
reduced
to our coffee cup caricatures,
husks of the men we were once,
stranded
on Escher-esque stairs,
under bitter ozone aromas
of lightenings to come.
Here on this solitary rock,
like the last two peas in the pod,
we stand
minutes from our doom,
so utterly, and
uselessly
in love.

this is really good. i love the wording, imagery, structure and flow. powerful title and pic to go along. very deep and thought provoking. all is relative. we sometimes feel that the stars do not align for us or that fate has conspired against us. that can of peas could just as easily be full or their could be magic in the remaining two - i take them to be lovers. we might not have tomorrow but as my muse thoreau wrote, "live deeply and suck out all the marrow of life". things are what they are. we can be like the gods if we so choose. is up to us to define our reality. surprising ending. if we have love, we have everything and anything is possible ...

"like the last two peas in a can" is one of the most romantic similes I've ever read.
