La vie en rose

La vie en rose

A Poem by Moonie
"

~Life through rose-tinted glasses~

"
Staring at your cotton-candy walls,
we fall asleep to the scents of
snuffed-out candles and long-stemmed roses.
Waking up, just before dawn,
to watch the curtains that glow bubblegum pink.
For the nights that we spend together, tangle in
my mind-- like sheets wrought in
scents of roses and absinthe-
voyeurs of our ruby-woo kisses, a labyrinth
of cherry marks trailing across your chest;
sheets that descry intertwined fingers and legs.
If it is friction that lights a match,
I can see why your hands ignite my pulse ablaze.
Wonder if you stitched yourself into my skin,
with your sweet words and a tongue so mean.
Mornings sing with the sound of raindrops,
fossilizing into puddles; I am all but washed
in the tide of your breathing.

I think it is just great to see the world through rose tinted specs every now and then. I'd like to buy my specs where you by yours from. This is a wonderful piece of writing with some truly poetic and memorable lines. Take a bow, I am applauding.

I had to read this for it was my mom's favorite song and the subject of her eulogy. Your take was a bid red and rosey at the start but ended with some real emotion and imagery. Enjoyed!

I appreciate the read! Thank you for the review!
dear Fairest... the romance of rose petals softly touched as the dew is forming can be the essence of love ... in the dance of passion unfolding. Lovely to embrace your poetry. truly, Pat

Thank you so much for your beautiful review! I really appreciate your it :)
"stitched yourself into my skin"
wish i had written that line.
the imagery is so strong..."fossilized into puddles"
and a hint in here that it isn't all roses..."the tongue so mean"
either she feels a little wary...or from past experience, she knows the rose colored glasses aren't 20/20

Thank you so much, Tess, and apologies for the late answer. I wasn't online much.
Oh, the language of love, ever sated upon the tongue of those we love. Your articulation is engaging, "a labyrinth of cherry marks trailing across your chest", and "the friction that lights a match." But it was your closing lines that brought this to its fruition for me. "Mornings sing with the sound of raindrops, fossilizing into puddles; I am all but washed in the tide of your breathing." Could you have added the word "away" after "washed"? Captivating read!

A very grand, romantic piece......

Some lovely images scattered throughout this piece like rose petals upon a white sheet. "Sweet words and a tongue so mean" is rather an appropriate description for a Casanova lover, too. Above all, I love the title and more so the divine Edith Piaf version of that song.

Well written.

ahhhhhhh l'amour, l'amour! ..great song pics .. life in pink! what a delightful expression .. i like that your poem of love includes the "...tongue so mean" .. it humanizes the dreamy quality of your poem .. we do hurt one another sometimes ..thoughtlessly and not on purpose ;} enjoyed the whole experience of "La vie en rose"
