Bathing in Tea

Bathing in Tea

A Poem by Moonie
"

~Tea is a sentiment, it is poetry! Hark the music it sings!~

"

I shall immerse myself
in a tub of Tea,
wrapped in the chrysalis of its heat,
and sweet aroma,
inebriated by the fragrance of
jasmine and lavender.

The baptized brain, buoyant
with drowsy peace--
on the precipice of sanity.

When the senses are bewitched, and
the heart slows its insistent thudding,
I stir in
the memories of old romances,
brewing in
the pastel tales of long ago.

....Simmering...
The tea awakens,
and greets me with a savour of
half-forgotten places and people,
of muffled music,
and lost lyrics.

When the soft citrus scent of
blackcurrants, lime and orange peels
begins to sing in unison,
stealing away the last of my distress,
my thoughts lay suspended
on thin silken threads.

I see the effervescence stir--
amorphous and fleeting

~An exhale of sweet warmth ~
~A spiral of silver ghosts ~
~A final hiss of steam ~

In this resplendent moment,
I can hear the beat of being.

I am. I am.

I'm actually not a huge tea drinker myself. However, whenever I do it definitely relaxes me. I could actually bathe in the steam that arises from the hot cup. There's something soothing about it's properties that automatically transports me to a dream-like place. This was beautifully written. Great read.

this is brilliant in many ways ...but most of all the mere fact of not even being a tea drinker
I related to every line....such a pleasantry to be able to switch a specific subject with another and not even hurt the authors vision....
which leads me to the other part of wow
haven't we all been there staring into that damn cup ??
great job how nice it was of a read

Read three times, feeling the blissful saliva of need rise! Your words positively hug the thought and taste of tea.. subtle words, loving words.. resulting in absolute satisfaction.. Wonderfully visual yet academic writing!

is the "I am. I am." outro at the end based off the bell jar? either way, I like it! the whole vibe here is so soothing and I truly envy your description and word choice here... the way in which you constructed this poem is really so immersive

from the first bursting forth of aromas to the settleing of scents and flavors combined ..your poem has given me a moment of serenity as respect for tea ... something we in America failed to maintain from our British influences ... i have all kinds of herbal tea in me cupboard but only brew it once in a while ..and even then after reading your poem, i realize i do not take the time to appreciate it enough ..i am inspired to make that moment happen for me with my next cup ...

;).......................
I like the poem. Herbal bath are very good. I use some for legs and back pain. Your description of the bath is better than my combination of healing herbs. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.
