Winter's Tale

Winter's Tale

A Poem by Moonie
"

~Love blossomed in my chest~

"
In the chilly
and icy winter,
with its limited avenues
of sunshine
and evening darkness,
Love blossomed in my chest...

When nature itself was
dying....
drowning....
murdered by the suffocating avalanche of
ice and snow and sadness......

      It was beautiful

Frosty Aspen leaves blowing,
cradled by the North wind....
The sun a pearly speck
in the turquoise sky....
The moon...brighter than ever
shone down.....

Chinar leaves raining
in the garden of breezes...
Hemlocks, Spruces, Pines, and Fir trees
swaying to the backdrop of
barn owl hoots and
rattling wind in the chimney.....

We read story books all day and
made assumptions about the future...
In a home of wood, warmth, and wellness,
we stayed....
                                        .... Forever?
Forever.

Author's Note

Moonie
Winter is a beautiful canvas according to me! :)

Back here for a little while...I hope to review back as many writers and poets as I can...:))

Notes on the poem:
Chinar leaf :A leaf from an oriental tree found in the cold snowy northern region of India. It resembles the maple leaf somewhat and sheds in the winter.

The beauty of winter contained in verse. I'd never heard of the Chinar tree or leaves so that was an interesting bit of knowledge. We have Great Horned owls here and they call to each other (male and female) each morning, just at dawn, in the coldest winter months. The female's song is loud and high while the male's song is short and low. I enjoyed the read.

Thank you so much for the lovely review! Chinar really has the prettiest shape in my opinion!

There is a cozy feeling to this poem. Memories of winter are so vivid for many of us...the feeling of family and the warmth. The imagery in your words is lovely. Lydi**

nothing like love to warm a heart in winter...and make everything a pretty picture rather than what we saw in Shakespeare's poem "Winter"---which shows the ugly, stark cold and bitterness of the season...

nicely done here.

Thank you, dear sir! I apologise for being so late to comment.. :))
Some very nice lines and thoughts. This would be uplifting without some of the words in the second grouping. Valentine

A Happy New Year to you!
I got a sense of 'Once upon a Time...' and a 'Happily Ever After' for our lovers here. The reality may not have been quite sucessful though, ergo the 'Forever?' at the end.
I loved the little scenes. They are truly loving and lovely. Just the thing to warm a winters morning.
Nicely done.
Oh...ps....I couldn't help but notice your hand-writing Moons Fairest. It is truly beautiful. Make my own (of which I am immodestly proud lol) look like scrawls.
