Spring

Spring

A Poem by Moonie
"

~spring~

"
We dream of fearless landscapes,
of tall prairie grass and guitar acoustics,
washing down the heat,
and the loss we feel.
In a single gulp, we swallow
                this melancholy laden air...

Spring is here.
Its venomous empty promises
on the winds, I hear...

I suppose its something inside us that holds no promise for change or improvement even though spring is a symbol of renewal over the blues of winter. Sometime the blues stays longer than expected, becoming an all-too-familiar pattern.

Love your poetry.

Your spring awakening is filled with misted, dark shadows it seems. The storms after winter that try and arouse the world from slumber, how they often rip apart the season's soft beauty. Spring seems so hungry to feast from your peace, dear poet. May it never be.

This is beautifully written but you're not happy that Spring has arrived. Something is troubling you.

This feels like a passage from Gatsby.

Very nicely penned. I look forward to more.

"Melancholy laden air", I loved this description, tragically gorgeous. A tremendous feat you have accomplished in packing so much emotion in so short a piece. Brilliant.

This hits quite close to home my fair daughter...very close to home. Our spring is a promise in a sense, but all too often the joys of it are overlooked by the hasty segue to summer, followed by fall.

I had mentioned to a friend that I go back and forth over positives and negatives of summer, mostly finding negatives...spring tends to promise the positives but it is very human to only see the negative....

There have been times where my wish is to pack a backpack and leave. Everything. For a fearless landscape :)

I find that it's best to stay rooted to home though...

Moon, I'm always astounded at your eloquent words and images. Yes, there is something about spring that evokes empty promises and you say it so well. Amazing writing (again).
