Fairy Tale

Fairy Tale

A Poem by Moonie

      "Who was she?" they asked...
She is the net of
honey tulips in the breeze,
she is those paper butterflies
racing across mazes of wheat,
the flakes of sleet
that chased the wind
until they melted away,
laughter on the swing set...
She's hurricanes and storms,
the scent of pines
the night
she wished on a star
for the first time.
She's the field of
pink heather and hyacinths
where she sat for hours....
She's the mist that puzzled her,
the smiles and kisses
she kept secret.
She's that faint hue
of lavender in the sky
at sunset.

"Who was he then, " they asked again....
He is the savour of
the first spark of fire,
he's the tales of
armored knights on mares,
the fists and fights he endured
in third grade.
He is a firework show in the sky....
He's seagulls flying high,
the nightmares that cling
to his reflections, and
the fear of darkness he
always kept bottled.
He's the tongues of flame
that reached for the
atmosphere,
the aquamarine pond
where he lost his first nickel,
those crinkles on the side of
his eyes no one saw....
He is those hidden smiles and kisses
he could not find.

Thank you so much! :))
I like the big and little of this piece. You have your characters doing the superhuman yet bring them to the alter of simplicity. Nice work Moon!

i absolutely love your "Fairy Tale" ... "who was she" is one uplifting, gentle inebriating moment after the other ...and "who was he" .. sparks the boy hero in me ... the care you gave to each line pays off for me! i would quote them all ..and the celebration of a Princess and a Hero is a refreshing breath .. the differences of the sexes is Divine if one would ever ask me ;)) a wonderful and (again) uplifting read for me!

Thank you, Aries! Your reviews are always very uplifting! :))
I really love the 'she' - the 'he' not so much but I really admire how much has gone into this - to imagine so many of those magical, paradoxical, ethereal 'things' (that aren't even all really tangible things) must have been difficult. Kudos for that Moons

I like the way you presented this one. the two accounts in response to the questions is clever.
