Red Poppies

Red Poppies

A Poem by Moonie

Let us go then, you and I,
to where the red poppies race by.
Let us travel with hands intertwined,
to where the swaying violets lined,
stand out in the lent summer heat.
Let us find some day spare, to meet.
To meet and to lock our hands
in an emphatic embrace of wedding bands.

Author's Note

Moonie
The first line is taken from "The love song of J Alfred prufrock" by T.S. Eliot. I wanted to write something vaguely romantic. I've been called unromantic way too many times, to keep count.

I think this is more than vaguely romantic! I missed the Eliot reference; I haven't read him much but I probably should. The flower images are wonderful even though in a different context poppies do carry a different connotation. Excellent poetry as usual, my friend.

well this shows you can be a heck of a romantic girl when you apply yourself.
this is sweet. nothing quirky about it.
