May Those who are Born After Me

May Those who are Born After Me

A Poem by Nao Deguchi

If I were close, I would whisper

The long drunken eternity

Of the rapture you have never felt

And you would melt

A salt girl to her body

A gentle man to his prime

And I would kneel, and you would rise

And I would serve you

And not sleep and dream

Of idle things or inconveniently

Obscure the simplicity of reality

But the slow moon sinks

And the geese-song comes

The fields are wet with dew

And the hours follow

The mountain path

Where I will never be led

To you, down the centuries

Gazing at your pillow

O’, how I know your thoughts.

This sent shivers down my spine

Very mature thoughts for such a young lady...interesting though how the words seems to be spoken by a man...guess that's just part of the mystery of poetry, huh? Well, its effective, nonetheless.

About
I will go to great lengths to encourage writers of Asian origin. Of these, Indian are my favorite. They have a beauty of sentiment that is not replicated in english. I do not like to leave a trace.. more..
