A Cradle Song

A Cradle Song

A Poem by Nao Deguchi

Sweet dreams, return

To the loving shade

Of No-time, hush now

There is only mercy there

To follow you into your round

Sweet dreams, return

In such pleasant streams

That the loving world

Would return you the myths

Of easy illusions, unfettered joys

The condition of repose

Sweet dreams, return

To hover over immobility

As would a happy child

Dizzy with too much tiredness

Sweet dreams, return

All creation thus sleeps and smiles

So come thy makers from the wild

Sweet dreams, return

Back to the womb’s delight

Where heaven & earth

Mingle again for a while.

Hi Rain, yes I patterned it after William's Blake's similiar poem, I do like the peaceful gentle style of him.

What a beautiful lullaby. somehow the rhythm itself within the lines soothes. Gentle and lovely.

About
I will go to great lengths to encourage writers of Asian origin. Of these, Indian are my favorite. They have a beauty of sentiment that is not replicated in english. I do not like to leave a trace.. more..
