But One Kiss...

But One Kiss...

A Poem by Nansi London
"

A recently [like last week lol] wrote this for a contest on another poetry site and yay I won Silver. may not be Gold BUT!!! its better than bronze tehe! Propmt- about a kiss

"
A tingle upon my lips
A surge down my spine
The sound of a light switch 'clicks'
And suddenly I am blind.

The obvious need to inhale
The lack of memory how,
His shoulders, my fingers assail
His touch spiriting me between then and now.

Finally the seal breaks.
The bridge between us part.
The shallow soil of my world quakes,
To the misty uprising of my heart.

We stare into each others' souls
In the aftermath of amazed apprehension
A thought, in a gaze, understood but untold,
To take inventory of what may be lost in the power of our passion.

This poem makes me think that although poetry tends to exaggerate or magnify a single moment and make it seem like an entire lifetime, it is pretty real. Who can deny that you've successfully pinned every feel and reaction of a shared kiss between lovers? You even added in the lingering afterthoughts ;)....absolutely loved this!

This is a very nice way of describing a kiss. I like how you regard a kiss as as a type of silent, unspoken language. I find that to be a rather powerful idea considering that a kiss can say a great deal even when neither lover speaks.

I loved the line: "To take inventory of what may be lost in the power of our passion." It shows that there is a balance to what is gained, and that some of the communication is never truly translated.
