This life thingA Poem by Nandawula Regine Kabali-KagwaBe kind to yourself because sometimes life won't be kind to you. Be kind to others, you don't know what someone is going through.Life was such a tease She tasted like chocolate coated dreams With extra fillings of devotion Even sparkled with infinite high hopes Boy was I a fool The pedastle himself was peaking... Briefly Then brutally mutilated right after the shining moment Right after my last twinkle in my eyes as my smile beamed As my heart fluttered peacefully on the clouds But really Gravity of reality tugged, pulled and ripped that comfort away Hands of responsibility hauled me in all directions Disorientated was an understatement Overwhelmed waves outruled my erratic mind Honestly This ground is rough The clouds are not in sky limits They are not seen anymore, they're galaxies away from me The comfort... The chocolate coated goodies too Gone Are they really? Maybe there's scrumptious sugary treats down here too Maybe the ground has got treasures somewhere Life... Truly was seductive like that You can smell it, the sweet aromas, yet... The distance, the direction of scented heaven is unknown How detrimental it is... To suffer like this How back bending it is... To rise and fall harder than the last time How suffocating it is, to scream silently In a room of proud, eager and hopeful eyes Eyes that twinkle and glow because of you Goodness me, then I realized Life was a dancer, a devastatingly hypnotic performer That effortlessly swayed with our live's strings In her unpredictably curious hands NRK-K © 2024 Nandawula Regine Kabali-Kagwa |
