For Two

For Two

A Poem by Nance

The smile cuts your face in two

arrogance

channels your eyes

steel is sharp

and hardens the condition

of your heart

my thoughts

remember

honest and true

time and memory

killed like a magnum by you

entwined as thorns in a forgotten field

is where we lie

you and I

waiting a wasted day

pounds a heavy heart

into dead weight

mine ceases to cry

yours can not

reason why
