Forgotten Promises

And cold lies

Were all you had to give

I gave you my heart

Though you took it

You never gave me anything

And you left me bereft

Alone

Without your heart

Or mine

And I cry

Without comfort

Without hope

I get no justice

My soul has been damaged

And marred beyond repair

For I gave everything

And got nothing in return

Again you captivate with your well written words, and add such emotion that the reader can feel your sorrow. This poem was truly beautiful, and is something that I think a lot of people can relate to. There are so many times in life when we are in a relationship or recounting a past relationship, that we see we got nothing in return. We give our hearts and make sacrifises, only to find that the other person isn't willing to make those same sacrifises or willing to give anything themselves. Its sad, but its true, and you have managed to capture those hurt and broken feelings that are left behind in the wake of such a relationship so well. Bravissimi.

i agree with you. some people have a tendency to take and keep on taking. everything isnt enough, and then they begin to take what you cant give, what you need within you to survive. and this poem describes that beautifully.

Great poem. I think everyone feels this way at one point in life. My view is at least you can say you gave it your all and screw everyone else who thinks different. Most people dont give a damn thing.

Good poem.
Yes it definately sucks when you give all
the love and support you have to someone you
believe and trust in but unfortunately you get
taken for granted but all you can do now is well you
learn for this experience and know that you cant
just trust anyone or pour your heart out all at once.
