Dare To Love

I love him.
We have been playing this to
and fro game for a while now.

I haven't told him yet.
Partly because I'm
scared.
Partly because I feel I should admit it to myself
before. And what better way to
do so for a writer than
write it alldown.

Thus, I sit. At the corner of
my bed.
Overlooking the thin slice of the
silver
moon glistening through the
midnight sky.
He wasn't how I had dreamt my
man to be.

My man was supposed to be
tall andbroad.
With a
thick distinguished accent
when he spoke. And here I was, at odds with my own mind,
loving
him with all my
heart.
He was cynical and obtuse and impossible. But
truth was,

arguing with anyone else had
never felt this right until he came along.
And today, as I
admit to myself the
impossible, my heart feels
overwhelmingly
full with love and relief yet
leaving me hollow at the
same time.

To love and to be
unsure leaves me feeling scarily vulnerable.
Tomorrow, when the sun rises to herald
in a new day
I shall tell him.
I'm sure. Only,
I've been doing
this for the past
week
