Once Was

Once Was

A Poem by NamelessBeast.
"

Once Was.

"

The house that was once my palace,

Has now become my darkened prison.

The promise bracelets I once wore,

Have now become my steel handcuffs.

The breath that was once my savour,

Has become my tormenting reminder,

The blood that was once pure drops,

Has now become my count down,

The passion that was once my fuel,

Has now become my cold, icy soul,

The love that was once burning flame,

Has now become a dull ache.

The life that was once mine,

Is unrecognisable to me now.

The girl that was once me,

Is dead.

I like this poem. The cold language you used seemed to distance your feelings from your poem, but added to the raw emotion of the piece. One thing I noticed is that you kept repeating "was once," but because the title is "once was," I think you should change the lines in the text to match. Just a suggestion, though. Thank you.
