DeathA Poem by NamelessBeast.DeathHe calls out for his
dad, "Papa, don't die. Papa, please." And when his tears
fall time itself seems to freeze, Papa lays in a
hospital bed, breathing shallow breaths, And inside the
little boy is dying a thousand deaths, Little girl sits in
the vets, right next to her mother, She's looking at her
puppy, she doesn't want another, She looks past the
vet at his small, weak form Somewhere inside she
knows he won't last 'til dawn. A new mother stares
down at the incubator baby, What'll be her name?
Alexia, Hannah, maybe...? Baby
starts convulsing, something's wrong with her heart, Maternal instinct
and fear tear the mother apart. In a dark, dank graveyard,
the mourners all stand, This funeral - so
far - has gone exactly as planned, Everyone is upset
and sad, tears leak from their eyes, But I watch them, I
know the tears are all lies. Death is everywhere
around us, it's constantly here, It's always in our
thoughts, in our dreams, in our fears. Death is the only
constant in this life of uncertainty. It's just one thing
that makes sense in this absurdity. © 2011 NamelessBeast. |
