WatchA Poem by NamelessBeast.Watch; Am I The Only One?Watch
the white foam tipped waves lap up the shore, Watch the sea gulls
swoop lazily over the green grey waves, Watch the men and
women walk across the smooth pebbles. Watch the children
run through the crashing waves. Watch the mothers
tut at their children - soaking wet. Watch the fathers
sigh as the children ask for ice cream, Am I the only one
who sees the pain in their eyes? Watch the city
shoppers chase a bargain in a mall, Watch the twenty
something year old girls squeal, Watch
the toddlers run away from the pram or trolley Watch the mothers
haul them back and strap them in. Watch the business
men look for ties and shoes, Watch the sports
mums look for new football kits. Am I the only one
who sees the tiredness in their eyes? Watch the football
mad fans rush through the station. Watch the alone men
and women drag themselves home. Watch the families
squabble and argue only to make up. Watch the couples
entwine, kissing and hugging. Watch the station
clerks give directions to tourists. Watch the tourist
stumble away - to the underground. Am I the only one
who sees the boredom in their eyes? Can't you see life
speeding past you at a snail’s pace? Can't you see
boredom strangling the excitement of life? Can't you see the
city's grey infecting the country? Can't you see the
painful longing of that lost hope? Can't you see the
broken cries of a lonely woman? Can't you see
the anguished cries of an island man? Am I the only
one? Is it just me? © 2011 NamelessBeast. |
