Twilight

A Poem by Jean Calvin

You know.
I forgot what the sunrise looked like.

Instead,
I was only familiar with the
Dismal darkness,
And fleeting light,
Of the sunset.

Instead,
I was only familiar with the
Bite of the existential night,
And the vacuum,
Of the darkness.

Instead,
I was only familiar with the
Feeling of blindness,
And hopelessness,
Of the night.

You know.
I forgot what the sunrise looked like.

I like the simplicity of this poem - sunrises have always had a special appeal, but 'the bite of existential night', as you put it so well, often seems to produce beautiful writing. Clever and truthful. {{}}
