Teacher, Teacher, Silence PleaseA Poem by KiwiA poem written about a chaotic high school environment.I wrote this when nothing was ever going on in class because the students were too rowdy and the teachers weren't getting anywhere with what they were trying to teach. It was entirely annoying. This was last year in junior year, and it is only growing worse now that I'm a senior and everyone is preparing to leave. Senioritis bites. I want college please!

That wall looks awfully comforting. I wonder, shall I walk to it With sarcastic smile wide, And step up with my head of pride To with my flesh most harshly hit? For this is what you drive me to, With all your chattering words. Your patterned circle So fervently pulls The teacher from what we learn. Pardon me while I roll my eyes, For it sickens me to listen. I’ll laugh and grin, Or act akin, While at my lashes tears do glisten. Can’t you wait for that bell to ring Before you endlessly talk? There are those here With open ear Ready to learn or walk. I myself cannot stand to ponder The nonsense we use to replace The pure knowledge we learned before When from us it is ripped and torn, To befit such charismatic disgrace. Hand me my papers and pass me my tests, To plummet or triumph rightly. For this half school Is not the tool To be used in my future brightly. Teacher, teacher, standing straight: Stem the tide and aggravate These students so horribly bent, With vocal turns inappropriately lent, From pushing my studies off late. When the silence breeds only silence, And my mind is free to grasp, I’ll thank you all For standing tall And letting me stay on task. © 2008 KiwiAuthor's Note
