Misty Morning

MISTY MORNING

Now that the lilac buds are in full bloom

And the dried earth is fertile

The lush greenery is regained 

With birds soaring up high 

The dew diffuses this day 

Even the air feels the joy

Melody rings everywhere

When the birds chirp peeping from the leaves

Peace, in my heart resides

To feel the aroma of the earth and sky

The stems smell heavenly 

Fragrance of flower they bear

The raindrops are elixir 

A blessing in disguise

They touch my skin 

And my soul is rejoiced.

This is a free verse poem and is enjoyable nevertheless, with the use of very specific language such as 'the aroma of the earth and sky'. The whole poem encapsulates the happy mood of a misty morning in just a few condensed lines. A very skilful use of imagery here which brings the scene to life.
