Book

I see many customers pass in front of me,

Some just ignore,

Some pick and look at me.

They keep me back on the bookshelf,

A place where I am destined to be.

I promise to be a good book only if you give me a chance to be,

Stop judging me and have a close look at me.

Then you'll know the words inked on me.

I am sure that you will like what is in me,

I can be a best friend only if you give me a chance to be.

I see the bestsellers and imagine myself there,

I promise to be close to your heart,

Only if you open and read me.

I am lying all alone with other books,

I am worthy only if you just open and take a look.

I have a feeling that this amazing well penned poem is a huge hidden personification. It is almost as though the author of this poem feel the same way in life as the book within the poem, it is full of passion emotion and all of it is so prominant that I feel the pain and the feeling of helplesness that the book has of not getting a chance taken on it, Wonderfully well penned. A nice spin on the phrase "don't judge a book by its cover." I like the ambiguity in this piece in that it can symbolize how people treat each other or it can, more literally, represent people's lack of interest in reading. It works either way.
