Let Me Explain It How I Fill ItA Poem by NaiveTayFootsteps fading to gray Your lover catching a plane Love burning out like a flame And words of a dreamer Echoing back as clear as a mirror But the dreamer has died Only those echoes keep it alive But the echoes too now lie And even the mirror had lied about more than the dreamer's eyes He sits and he stares Because it all seems hopeless to try to convey The difference in remembering and living Remembering how it was to live But realizing now it was nothing but dreaming Waking up is the nightmare "When it's your own whispers inside of your ear But dreaming again sounds more of a scare So he stays awake to stay aware Keeping himself from returning back there But always wishing that there was a place to find here Turning around, the road meanders up cliffs and down Looking ahead, the path is bare and lonely Having chosen to walk Where each step is clear and empty of rocks But even the smooth stones are gone Forever alone you can hear him singing these songs And reminding himself he was always a world to his own And so he goes on Telling himself the hope was always gone There's no hope when your world is a permanent statue Which cannot be broken Which cannot be eroded The dreamer of longevity has found this place open But open is something which cannot be filled This instant lasting for longer than forever has or will This one sided mirror comes along for the ride And so does the hope that he can make it outside But outside is only a place of more empty faces Faking themselves that together is where they have made it This one sided glass is the hope we hold onto And we hope that it's more than just see through, too This dreamer has died His mirror now dark he's turned off the light And he writes these words for a self he will never unite But just for a moment the nightmare is gone Holding his breath and hoping it won't be too long He repeats this old song and the dream pulls him on
