Uncouth Society

A Poem by Nahian Bin Asadullah

Defeated, disgusted and shocked.
Use these words all you please.

This country will not give you a moment's peace.

Raped and left to die in the streets.
Your & my sister it is.

Do we even stop to think we have a role in this?
Nay, we are busy blaming others as if there's no blame on us.

Lady gets into a crowded bus.
Lustful guys touch her unawares.

Bystanders look on....
The scene goes on and on.

When the time for 'heroics' come
Everyone fights tooth & nail to become the savior.

Ironically even the term 'heroics' is problematic, my friend
It is speaking up after everyone's going home.
