A small shabby house

The story took place many years ago in a small place that looked more like a stage village than one built of bricks and mortar. That was a starting point of her journey. She always hesitated to walk alone but that day the girl collected herself with an effort and made up her mind to roam about the river without saying a word to anybody. She felt confident unless she understood that lost the way. The sun was setting and the girl had some difficulty in searching the place where she had come from. Fortunately the girl saw a small shabby house and decided to drop in. “That’s precisely what I need,”- she thought and came in, having knocked at the door. She felt frightened and confused. The room was littered with lumber. Suddenly she felt somebody’s hands on her shoulders and gave a loud cry. Next day the girl returned home but she was quite strange, not like before, even her appearance differed. Nobody knows what had happened to the young lady and where she is now.

The Shadow

It was his last case. Though Jack was fifty but he still was in a good shape and did his job with a great skill. Jack was a professional, he proved to be a real mature artist in his subject. Mr Collins or ‘Shadow’ was a thief in law. Jack awarded that status when he was only nineteen, stealing Monaco Queen’s brilliant necklace. One might think it’s a doubtful award for a man.
“Once you’ve tried it and felt that delicious taste of invincibility, you can’t stop ever. That’s all,”- Jack always repeated. So, the case was dealed with ‘Giaconda’-the priceless piece of art well-known all over the world. The Shadow felt nervous and worried a bit. He selected the most suitable way of making the crime. The Shadow collected himself with an effort and set to it. Jack was accepted to the charity evening in the museum as an art critic. He spent the whole evening in an inconspicuous place till the close of the exhibition. Instead of the famous piece of art made by the magnificent painter the thief saw only awful smudges and felt that had become a laughing-stock. It was a small farewell surprise from his friends. That was the end of the Shadow’s career. Blushing to the top of his ears, Jack was touched and happy.

A cruel enemy

This weird thing happened some years ago. A six-year-old boy entered a dark room a heard a noise. It would be better to leave the room but he wanted to be worthy of great praise. That’s why the boy struck a match and saw a vase broken to pieces. He was puzzled. Then he heard the clock struck twelve and froze with horror. Turning the head the boy felt a blow and didn’t like the way his enemy behaved with him as it was inhuman, unfair and hit him too. But what a great surprise it was to the little boy when he switched on the light and saw his cruel enemy-a typical bookcase.
