Journey

Journey

A Poem by Nabu
"

Which direction shall you take?

"

Right now in this moment, I am lost.

I don't know what direction to take, so many paths.

Does anything ever lead us to where we need to go?

Or is each journey in its infinite wonder leading us to doom?

There are crossroads ahead of me.

One path separates into four.

Which shall I take?

I know not where they may lead me,

or how I will fair during the journey.

Each direction takes me along a path of a friend.

Some of them start side by side,

while others veer off in a different direction from the beginning.

Who will I choose?

Which of the four will lead me where I need to be?

I trust them all.

They will all be good companions during the journey.

One of them will make me laugh almost the whole journey.

The other is much more stern.

One of them has their own reasons for leading me.

While the last one compels me to change.

All with valid reasons for me to follow.

But do I follow, or do I lead?

My heart is weak, I know not where to go.

All I know is that I love them all.

All four, and that they are all my teachers in this journey.

That for a time, we shall travel together.

Until that which I am searching for can be seen.

Or until I die trying, during the journey of my life.

the torn torment of "the decision"... you ask the question, do i follow or do i lead, then the next line is my heart is weak. A leader must be strong, therefore by deductive reasoning do not go down the path for you to lead, you are not ready yet. You say one path compels the need to change?.. what kind of change? change for the better?.. because if so, that path would help you grow and learn yourself as a person better and quicker, humor is great, but sidetracks as a mask to momentarily cover the serious issues that need to be addressed. its a great poem.. its a thinker, and it gets the reader thinking... the goal has been achieved. thank you for writing frmo the heart

much love n' respect

Hello Nabu,
"Journey" is something all of us are involved in every moment of every day and there are always different paths to take. We all make good and bad decisions. Hurrah, for talking about it from the heart!

"But do I follow or do I lead?" The line to me is especially poignant. The four friends that the traveler describes I found intriguing. Excellent elements in this fine poem.
