Mask

Mask

A Poem by Nabu
"

What mask do you wear?

"

Do you see me?

You think you see me.

I wear so many masks.

They hide the pain,

they hide the sorrow.

Always I appear to be content.

But this life can be hard.

Never do I go without a mask.

One day its optimistic,

the next is pessimistic.

Others is just plain blah.

If you want to see me,

to see who I am from within.

You must know me, and know me well.

For in knowing me you know this.

We all wear masks.

But does wearing a mask make you a fake?

All masks are real,

they just hide you from the world.

When you are ready to show your face,

you will take off your mask.

But remember, even behind your mask.

Don't ever forget who you are inside.

If you lose that to the mask,

then it no longer is your friend.

Then it is what you don't want,

a fake, even though it is real.

And remember to take your mask off for a while,

so that way you remember who you are.

The day will come, to everyone I am sure.

When they no longer need the mask.

And in that moment,

you will become whole.

No longer a fake, but real.

And in this life, being real is what matters.

Even if you still wear a mask.

Nabu
I know in my life right now, I am wearing a mask. It changes daily, depending on the situation, and my mood. Just some food for thought.

I like this. I think it fits so many people, including myself at times. I liked how you reminded everyone to take off their masks every once in awhile. Its important to remember who we are. Great poem!
