Something for the night

Something for the night

A Poem by Simmering embers
"

This is in keeping with the promise I made to myself about churning out something creative once in a while...Let me live a little

"

I sit down with a pen

in the dead of the night,

I have made up my mind,

Tonight I shall write...

I shall rack my brains,

And will not give up without a fight,

How hard can it be?

Tonight I shall write...

In vain I close my eyes,

To envision a poetic sight...

And though I only see dirty dishes,

Tonight I shall write...

I try to think of creative thoughts,

and imagine beautiful birds in flight,

But even though that meeting I have tomorrow keeps distracting me,

Tonight I shall write...

I realize I didn't quite make it today,

This poem doesn't look alright,

But Tomorrow comes with new hope and I am happy,

Because...

Tonight I did write!

What wonderful writing....its a brilliant piece about a creative genius waiting to be unleashed, but bound in the monotony of everyday chores....something most of us amateur writers face I guess....but how well you put it into words!!!
Yes, you have written....and have written brilliantly. Thanks for sharing this piece with us....may you keep writing...whenever you have time and give us such fabulous work!!!

God Bless You!!!

What about this?
"I sit down with a pen
In the dead of night
I promise myself then
Tonight I shall write...

It may be hard on me
But I'll put up a fight
How hard can it be?
Tonight I shall write...

My eyes close to usher in wishes
And to envision a poetic sight...
Though I only see dirty dishes,
Tonight I shall write...

To give wings to my creative thought
Where are the beautiful birds in flight
My mind has the mundane sought
And yet, tonight I shall write...

I know I didn't quite make it today
This verse doesn't look right
I'm happy with hope for another day
For tonight I did write !"

No Raj!!! Bad girl for saying that...This is unique! I had a chuckle, stacks of dishes and meetings, so typical of a worker/author trying to find the time to be creative...sit in the bathtub and shut the door girl and forget about everything binding...
I loved it...so refreshing!
Cheers,
Helen :-)))

I adore your poem, I can see the smiles and the joy behind it. Every line is precious and leaves me with a very happy feeling. Sometimes you have to let the housework go a little bit and make time. Just don't answer the door and no one will se it! haha. Great job!
