Outside Looking InA Poem by NYYankeesFan79Walking down the street in the pouring rain. Feeling such sadness, so in pain, heart full of disdain. Tears are welling, eyes are swelling. His thoughts are compelling, in his mind they are dwelling. In the darkness all alone, he falls into a zone. Suddenly, he hears the ringing of a phone. Where it's coming from is unknown. He hears the voices of two mates, arranging a date. The man thought it was a hallucination when he heard the female's exhilaration. This situation requires further investigation. A short distance ahead appears an apparition. Listening to his intuition he follows along in the ghost's mission. In his hand he holds a bouquet of flowers, dressed in a suit. The smile on his face is acute. Together they continue the pursuit. At the end of the street, their travel is complete. The man goes to the window on the side. What he sees opens his eyes wide. The smile on the female's face, the way she looks at her companion, so full of passion. Her reaction is something he can't imagine, an idea he can't fathom. When they move closer and start to get near. He is able to hear the sound of a heartbeat in his ear. As they embrace, it picks up pace. When their lips meet, deafening is the beat. Love not unrequited, but mutual seems like a rare jewel. Before his confusion could resolve, the ghosts dissolve. In the night they fade, leaving him feeling lost and betrayed. Left on the outside looking in
