Soliloquy of the Adventurer

Soliloquy of the Adventurer

A Poem by NSmith
"

Behold! The thoughts and ramblings of a man on a journey. Who's also very sleepy at the moment.

"

I see it all.

I feel the green grass beneath my feet.

The smell of the open mountain air purifies my lungs.

There is nowhere to look but forward and up.

That is where I will find my destiny.

I'm merely a man of the mortal coil,

turning and spiraling his way towards the end.

Yet at each spin and every turn The Fates play their hands

With fiend after fiend, and demon following demon,

my ascension grows slower yet not weaker.

The gentle graze of grass

slowly becomes a rough and rugged stone.

The fresh air I once breathed becomes a toxic mist

and yet, I do not grow weary or faint.

My gaze is transfixed, on my one and only goal.
