Day of SilenceA Poem by N.SevillaYou can probably figure out by the title that I wrote this for the Day of Silence
Have you ever looked into eyes that hate?
Eyes that burn and a look that rages? And when you look away it's too late: That second lasts for ages. Have you ever seen that disappointed look? That look given with sad eyes. It leaves you riled up and shook And a little piece of you withers and dies. Have you ever looked at disgusted faces? It's all in the expression, the disgust. Your veins pound and your heart races Because they are repulsed by what you love and lust. That! That is how those people see. They see what is only the exterior. We are all different. You, him, me, Yet they are treated inferior. That boy over there is just a kid. Future doctor, future president; the future lies in him. But if he mentions what all those years he hid, All of a sudden, rejection fills him to the brim. He too is a victim of suicide. He too has been physically abused. He too has a friend that lied. He too has been used. For years that boy stayed in the dark, Denying, hiding, secretive, dying. Too afraid of hurtful words that might make a mark So he spent his days lying. I speak now for this boy and all he is. For the things he carries. He is a mute caged bird because of this. I speak for his cheeks of cherries. The innocence he lost. That innocence he had before. Those eyes cold with frost Should jeer at him no more.
