And That's OkayA Poem by N.SevillaAn unrequited love isn't that badI’ve loved you now for so long, Since we first became friends. You don’t know, but that’s okay, I’d tell you if you weren’t too nice for your own good. You’ve dated and had your heart broken And I’ve been there for you all the way, From the early sign of subtle lust To the tears of agony you would shed. I’ve been your ear and shoulder; Your hand to squeeze when in pain. You could never love me, I know. You said you could never love women Like I can, And things like that won’t change. If I ever told you and asked you to be mine You’d say yes And I’d be hurt Because I want your heart, not your body. I’ve often read stories with people like me: Their pains of want ring in my ears. But they are just stories since I don’t cry out, Just a dull throbbing that I have forgotten Until the days you fall again, And a tiny pang reminds me it’s there. You aren’t hurting me Like you would convince yourself IF. Giving me kisses won’t make me happy IF. I won’t stop being your friend IF. Nothing would change IF. IF… I told you. So don’t worry your pretty head If my eyes sometimes glaze over. Just remember all I need is your love, The love of a friend rather than none at all. © 2013 N.SevillaAuthor's Note
