Can't Quite FitA Poem by N.SevillaMy response to every "soul-mate-other-half-fate-brought-us-together-I-can't-live-without-you-forever-and-ever" believer.
We are two pieces of the same puzzle
With our purpose printed on us But our pictures don't quite match And our curves and grooves don't fit But I'm sure if we move a little more We could ignore the space between us That's all right that we weren't born To complete one picture I'm not your soul mate, not your other half Yet it makes our love so much sweeter That you do not live to love me And Fate has not planned our future You could get up and leave And I will continue to live Because you are not my flesh And that's okay I'm sure the taste of my self is not nearly as exotic We are two pieces that don't quite fit Too tightly in some parts In others, a space in between It comforts me to know I'm jammed up closer to you than your soul mate could be I am lucky to know the space that divides us Reminds us we are individuals What makes our love all the sweeter Is that you don't need me and I don't need you But we laugh at Fate as we make ourselves fit Imperfectly But We don't give a damn
