Picture Perfect "Winter"

Picture Perfect "Winter"

A Poem by N.Sevilla
"

The first picture I found perfect

"

The simple title in white,

“Winter”,

With a slight shadow behind.

Clouds brew above,

Darkening the world into a coarse-grained picture

Taken to capture the perfect moment

In which the willow girl tilted the world

As she swayed in the wind.

Arms, outstretched branches that fade

Into twig-like fingers.

None dare to think her human

The way she drowns in her elation

And plants herself among the stretching sea of fading verdure.

A house in the distance,

Silhouetted by the fading light,

Just as the willow girl had become:

A shadow doll, frozen in perfection,

To forever wallow in the plains of Winter.

The cover of the book "Winter" was the first picture I ever saw that captured my heart. For my entire freshman year back in high school, I drew doodles on the sides of my notebooks as I tried to at least come close to the perfection I felt when I saw this cover. I have come across other "perfect pictures" later in life, but this was my first.

Gorgeous descriptions...I especially like the "plants herself among the stretching sea of fading verdure." It really captures the mood amazingly.
