NarcissusA Poem by N.SevillaA girl finds a lake and falls in love with the nymph beneath its surface.
Deep within the forest of eternal spring,
Frozen in a timeless moment, Lays a clearing that worships Aphrodite's chosen lake mirror. The wind holds its breath As not to perturb the lake's perfect glass surface. A girl kneels at one end, peering within, Her body so still she grows in the rhythm Of the surrounding trees. She could be a statue, were it not Her unmistakable, piercing, stare of love. There, touching the bottom surface of the lake, A nymph with a gaze just as intense. Her features so sharp, The blades of grass look a soft watercolor green. The weeping willows' leaves hang low, But even they dare not touch the lake In fear that ripples would distort the nymph's face. The girl leans in and gently kisses the lake goddess. Smooth and cool, her lips can feel the Feather-like touch of a nymph's skin. The lake moves, excited for being touched after so long. The nymph shudder's in delight, Her eyes wide and unblinking, Just as the girl's eyes are. The girl's mere breath makes the lake tingle with delight. The ripples spread and touch the clearing so that The world around sighs. The girl's lips spread and a bell-like laughter escapes; The nymph laughs just as beautifully, And the trees sway, finally given permission to be Rocked by the wind's caresses. Two pairs of eyes, full of equal joy, of equal love, Their pounding hearts in sync, whispering the same words: I love you as you love me. You love me as I am you.
