Manmade BeastsA Poem by N.SevillaWhen an antelope is killed, And its carcass half eaten, The feline beasts reside to its home And the body decays into the earth. The swans white feathers, Bathed in the moonlight With their partners near by. And they will always be Near by. A human boy eats his candy. Its wrapper lays in on the concrete Like a blemish on its perfect surface. The rains come and it drifts away, into the ocean. It doesn't decay In the freshly painted house, with the garden gnomes out front and a statue of cupid spitting out crystal water, Shadows move in an angry dance. A stumbling figure comes out, Leaves forever, Into the mouth of the night. The metal monsters reside Deep in our home, Regurgitating plumes of smoke. Column after column of smoke. Choking the blue out of the world. Look at those beasts, Dumb and wild, Uncivilized and violent, Says the father with the gun. Look how they attack us, With sharp teeth And razor claws, says the boy with the loud boots. Take aim my boy, The father says. Where at? Asks the boy. Pick an animal, Any animal. © 2012 N.SevillaAuthor's Note
