Clouds Fading into Blue

I’ve searched through many a person

And through the words they’ve written

To perhaps find a particular sentence

That immediately has me smitten.

Words that will hold me dearly,

Words that will capture my eyes.

Something more than hundreds

Of love letters and longing goodbyes.

To find words of old age

And a face so young and bright.

To teach me the follies of a child

And help me find my light.

But it’s been so very long

Since words have stolen my heart.

The day I laid helpless and trapped

In your literary art.

You were the single cloud in my sky

That has now faded into blue.

And like a child I have spent my days

Searching for one like you.
