Look at Me

Look at Me

A Poem by N.Sevilla
"

Another poem from a year ago

"
In the midst of all these,
Always, at the corner of my mind.
You reside there,
Tugging at my eyes to blind me
From all these.
Their colored eyes and luscious lips,
Curves and flowing hair.
None can open my eyes again
When you tug my gaze away.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
But yours is in every eye.
And yet it is intensified
In mine.
I wonder why you have a hold
So tight around my heart and throat
So that I may smile but not speak
And my heart swells tight.
Sweet scented hair,
Cascading waterfalls,
Carefully pronounced curves,
Excited smile,
Long gentle fingers ,
Dark chocolate eyes,
But always, always in my mind
Never looking at me.

Very nice, but who is it about?

I agree with Mel. The last two lines gave me chills, no kidding. That's probably because in the midst of all these, for all your love and desire for her, you have always been the invisible lover. Holding yet never touching. I share the feeling, it can hurt with such intensity that you can’t breathe, as if you’ve been punched in the gut yet it's the pain that keeps you awake. This is written with intense emotion. It touches the heart.

The last two lines gave me chills and made the hairs on my arms feel staticy. I'm not sure why, other than maybe the repitition of the word "always" is so profound. And "Never looking at me." I like it. I understand. The way you express the hand around your heart "and throat/So that I may smile but not speak", and describe "And my heart swells tight" as perhaps one without air. And "Dark chocolate eyes"...just captivating, along with "...luscious lips,/Curves and flowing hair." Your words, such as "Cascading", "pronounced", and "Tugging" are all such active visual descriptives. I just really, really like!
